A message from WATs President - Ros

Hello members

I am sure you are all aware and proud of our representatives at the Hockey Masters World Cup that has just taken place in New Zealand. Sandeep Maan (ladies 1s) played for England over 45s and Barbara Oliver (ladies 2s) played for England over 70s.

Sandeep’s team achieved a Bronze medal beating New Zealand in the 3 /4 play off and Barbara’s team had a very close run in with Australia in the final losing 4-3 on penalties to achieve a Silver medal. What a fantastic achievement for both ladies. Congratulations and very well done. You must both be so proud of yourselves as are WATS, England hockey, your families and Wolverhampton.

On another successful and proud note, I was privileged to attend the Wolverhampton
Sports Advisory Council Awards evening hosted by the Mayor Councillor Linda Leach. A great event attended by many sports clubs from around the city. Athletes, coaches, referees, and volunteers from all age groups were represented. I was so very honoured to accept from the Mayor the R.V. Cook Memorial Trophy on behalf of Sandeep.

Congratulations Sandeep what a well-deserved, wonderful achievement.

What an inspiration Sandeep and Barbara are to all of us.

Ros
