It is with great sadness that we let people know that Sue Myers (Myersy) passed away on Sunday 18th August.

It is with great sadness that we let people know that Sue Myers (Myersy) passed away on Sunday 18th August.

Sue has been a member of the club for many years, and was the one of the original members who started our fantastic junior development set up that is so successful today, and from which many of our now senior members started playing themselves. Sue also contributed a lot to Staffordshire Hockey Leagues being the chairperson for many years. She was recognised for her contribution to Hockey by Midlands Hockey receiving the Laurie Alcock award in 2021.

Sue was also the driving force behind the Wolvets, the ladies veterans team who have attended the Crawfurd Porter tournament in Harrogate for many years and from which our flamingo mascot is infamous as are the legendary themed Friday night outfits.

In the last few years Sue has battled with Parkinson’s and Dementia but she continued to be an important part of our hockey family with lots of club members visiting her on weekly basis which the family were very grateful for. Our condolences have been shared with Jon, Beth, David, Chris and the extended family.

RIP Myersy, you will be missed x

Sue's family invite you to celebrate her life with them at a service at Bushbury Crematorium on Tuesday 17th September. All details are in the link below:
